Benchmark Barrels Review by Nate Bell

I was looking for recommendations on barrels and heard about Benchmark in the local circuit. With a wide variety of barrel manufacturers producing quality barrels for a number of applications, I have found that Benchmark Barrels has been the most accurate and reliable shooting barrels for competitive shooting bar none. Over he years I have had 7 Benchmark barrels chambered in 6.5 and just recently chambered in 6mm.

Every single one of them has been a shooter. Although Benchmark Barrels makes a wide variety of contours, I prefer a MTU contour with 5 groove rifling for its weight and recoil performance. One thing that always stands out to me is the consistency of the barrel break-in. At approximately 100 – 150 rounds, my barrels have settled in and are ready for competition. Whereas, other barrels I’ve shot have taken up to 300 rounds before I saw the velocity level-off.

Benchmark Barrels has been a huge supporter of matches and shooters. These guys make top quality barrels that shoot very well. If you’re in the market for a new barrel, give Benchmark a try and you will see about the quality coming out of their shop in Arlington, Washington.

Nate Bell started shooting long range in 2011 at his local gun club. A few years later he learned of some local matches and wanted to see where he stacked up against the competition, which is when he actively pursued precision rifle competitions.  2017 is his 2nd year competing on the national level, and he can’t get enough of it. All the friendship, camaraderie, and love of the sport has made shooting an important part of his life.
